🥴 What is Written Portraits?

Written Portraits is a participative performance based on improvisation where, as painters do, Ox Maló portrays individually persons from the audience improvising a poem with his typewriter and the person gets the poem in paper as a present. Meanwhile, Aron Hollinger portrays the person with music, all this creating a unique experience that includes the audience as part of the process of creating an itinerant mirror.

Maria Magdalena (Wien)

Maria Magdalena ist das Solo Projekt des Musikers Tobias Pöcksteiner (Bereits bekannt aus Bands wie Ivery, Animal Machine, …), er ist seit mittlerweile über einem Jahrzehnt wichtiger Teil der österreichischen alternativen Musikszene und beeindruckt in seinem neuen Solo Projekt mit seiner Stimme und diversen und aufregenden Pop-Arrangements. Das Debutalbum Worn Out Shoes erscheint kommenden Winter und wird 2026 inklusive Band österreichweit und international präsentiert. Zwei Singleauskopplungen, inklusive Videos sind bereits erschienen:

Die Band-Besetzung besteht neben Tobias Pöcksteiner aus 3 weiteren Personen: Verena Koppendorfer (Ivery), Lorenz Ferchländer und Gloria Amesbauer (Glam, Lionoir, b.fleischmann) mit Vocals, Backings, E-Gitarre, Keys und Bass.

Desperate To Amuse

Wie im Namen des Grazer Trios desperate to amuse angedeutet, ist auch der musikalische Output ein durchaus ambivalenter. Düstere Sounds treffen auf träumerische Melodien, zarte Klänge kontrastieren ausufernden Noise, schwebende Disharmonien werden von treibenden Beats getragen. In den Texten von Tobias Minihofer findet man ein nicht selten ironisches Abbild von scheiternden Individuen, verpackt in lyrischen Bildern. Die Band verwebt in ihren atmosphärischen Stücken Elemente des Slowcore und Dark Folk mit Auszügen aus Postrock und Noise und setzt dies mit minimalistischer Besetzung um. 2005 als Soloprojekt gegründet, später als Band mit Exkursionen in Theater-, Film- und Improvisationsmusik gewachsen und seit 2014 als permanentes Trio fokussiert. Die Musik von desperate to amuse ist ein emotionales Erlebnis und nimmt dich mit auf eine Reise ins Unbewusste – der Soundtrack zum Rauschen im Kopf.

Wo fängt der Beat an? Diese Frage stellen sich die Schlagzeugerin Judith Schwarz und der Elektronikmusiker Arthur Fussy in ihrer Performance „Beyond the Beat“. Die Grenzen des Rhythmus auszuloten haben sie sich als Ausgangspunkt genommen und schaffen dabei eine sich immer wieder wandelnde Symbiose aus akustischen und elektronischen Klängen.

Weiters greift dieser Zyklus aus solistischen und kollektiven Stücken Gedanken der beiden MusikerInnen auf, die sie schon lange in der gemeinsamen Arbeit begleiten. Wann erkennt das Ohr und das Bewusstsein ein Pattern? Wie abstrakt darf/ kann es dabei zugehen, um den Zuhörenden trotzdem genügend Halt und Struktur zu bieten und Zusammenhänge erkennbar zu machen? Ist Rhythmus auch Melodie? Wie weit reicht die Möglichkeit der Imitation und der Kontraste der Gegenpole Akustik und Elektronik? Welche Formate können sich bei der Verschmelzung dieser verschiedenen Klangqualitäten und Spieltechniken entwickeln, um einen dramaturgisch ganzheitlichen Bogen über die Performance zu spannen?

Oliver Djurkovic Jazz Project (AUS)

Saxophonist and composer Oliver Djurkovic presents music from his debut album Dreamin — a modern jazz project that blends lyrical melodies, groove-driven compositions, and open improvisation.

Based in Australia and a graduate of the Australian National University, Djurkovic is an active performer on the contemporary jazz scene, leading projects that balance strong compositional identity with dynamic, high-energy live performance. Dreamin marks his first full-length release as a bandleader, featuring original music that draws on modern jazz traditions while remaining accessible and emotionally direct.

The live set showcases selections from Dreamin alongside newer material from an upcoming release, offering audiences a cohesive, engaging experience that ranges from intimate and reflective moments to driving, rhythm-forward pieces.

Riccardo Gileno (IT)

Riccardo Gileno is a folk-pop songwriter from Trieste, city that lies on the north-eastern coast of Italy. Thanks to the Canadian origins of his father, born and raised in Toronto, he discovers music at an early age, mainly listening to British and North-American artists. Riccardo Gileno’s solo project originates from his need to express himself through music, in order to find the driving force behind his personal growth. With his songs, he tries to escape his comfort zone, look inside himself and tell the listener what he found.

The music of Riccardo Gileno based between London and Milan released his new EP „From Beginning to End“ via Mahogany Songs,  which contains the singles „Simple Sign“ and „No Need“.

Bile Bear performance is a smooth blending of virtuosistic fingerpicking, hypnotic arpeggios, Blues licks, Mediterranean scales, Flamenco rolls, atonal strumming, charming echoes of Far East melodies, North African pathos.

All punctuated by absurdist storytelling, evocative Myths, regenerative Folk tales. Since 2024 double release with Australian Label Ramble Records,
Bile Bear music has been praised internationally as unique and innovative output within the American/South Italian Primitivism, Blues, Folk, Jazz, Avant-garde & Instrumental Music scene.

Bile Bear’s music features regularly on Radio Programs such as WFMU – New York, CKUT – Montreal, Balling The Jack by Joe Cushley, Resonance FM – London Slovenian Radiostudent.SL, WORTFM Canada and several EU independent stations. SquarEars begeistern mit ihrem brandneuen kammermusikalische Duo-Programm mit absurder, zum Teil dadaistischer Musik, die unvermeidlich in den Bann zieht. Sie nennen ihr Genre Hip- Post New Wave Chamber Jazz -Hop!

Kinematographische Klangwelten verleiten zum in die Tiefen des Unterbewusstseins Abschweifen, während groovige, zum Teil verstörende Passagen aus Tagträumereien aufwecken und in die dystopische Klarheit der Realität befördern.

Durch jahrelanges Zusammenspiel sind die beiden eng miteinander befreundeten Musiker untrennbar zusammengeschweißt und lassen mit ihrer interaktiven Verbundenheit beinahe darauf vergessen, dass es sich um zwei separate Individuum handelt.
